Uiseong County Wins Environmental Management Award for 4 Consecutive Years... Achieves Field-Oriented Administrative Results

Ranked First in Group 2 of Gyeongsangbuk-do Emission Facility Evaluation
Achieves 100% Inspection Rate

Uiseong County in Gyeongsangbuk-do has demonstrated both the stability and effectiveness of its environmental management administration. Uiseong County announced that it ranked first in Group 2 and received the overall Excellence Award at the '2025 Gyeongsangbuk-do Environmental Management Evaluation for Emission Facilities' held on December 17. With this achievement, Uiseong County has continued its record by winning the award for four consecutive years.

This evaluation was conducted by Gyeongsangbuk-do, comprehensively inspecting the management status of pollution-emitting businesses across 22 cities and counties in the province. The evaluation was divided into three groups based on the number of emission facilities. Uiseong County was evaluated in Group 2, which includes local governments with 60 to fewer than 220 emission facilities.


The evaluation was based on six indicators: inspection rate of emission facilities, violation rate of environmental laws, pollution inspection rate, prosecution rate, capacity building in environmental management, and institutional improvement and best practices. The total possible score was 200 points. Uiseong County achieved a score of 181.9 points, the highest in its group.


In particular, Uiseong County received high marks for achieving a 100% inspection rate of emission facilities, operating a flawless management system. The county also showed stable results in managing the violation rate of environmental laws and the pollution inspection rate, proving the effectiveness of its environmental administration, which focuses not only on enforcement but also on prevention and management.


County Governor Kim Jusu stated, "Environmental management cannot be completed through enforcement alone; it is important to help businesses enhance their own management capabilities." He added, "We will continue to communicate with companies and provide environmental management support that offers practical benefits on site."


Uiseong County plans to further advance its prevention-focused environmental management system through pre-inspections, customized consulting, and the dissemination of best practices. The county will also continue to strengthen the balance between local industrial activities and environmental protection.
