President Donald Trump of the United States has effectively entered an 'early campaign mode' ahead of the midterm elections scheduled for November next year. Amid declining approval ratings and controversy over high inflation, he is actively engaging in public opinion campaigns by visiting swing states in succession.

On the 19th (local time), President Trump visited North Carolina and emphasized the economic achievements of his second administration.

North Carolina, the site of this visit, is considered a swing state where both the Senate and House races are expected to be highly competitive ahead of the midterm elections. Following his visit to Pennsylvania on the 9th, this marks his second trip to a battleground state in ten days.

At the event, President Trump highlighted job creation and reductions in drug prices and energy costs as key accomplishments. Referring to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) announced the previous day, he claimed, "Inflation was lower than expected, and core prices are at their lowest level since 2021." He also stated, "Concerns that tariffs would drive up prices were unfounded."

The November CPI rose 2.7% year-on-year, falling short of expectations, while the core CPI decreased to 2.6%. However, on Wall Street, questions are being raised about the reliability of economic statistics due to the impact of the government shutdown (temporary suspension of government work).

President Trump promoted the recent announcement by global pharmaceutical companies to lower drug prices as "the largest price cut in history," and targeted the Democratic Party by blaming high inflation on immigration policies and the previous Biden administration. He also continued his criticism of 'Obamacare.'

In addition, President Trump, who has recently introduced policies such as special bonuses for military personnel and expanded leave for public officials, expressed confidence that tax deductions and wage increases will help ease the burden of rising prices.
