The Sinbuk Bandabi Sports Center, a facility designed for both people with and without disabilities, broke ground on December 19.

On this day, Chuncheon City in Gangwon Province (Mayor Yuk Donghan) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Sinbuk Bandabi Sports Center at 935-67 Yulmun-ri, Sinbuk-eup.


The Sinbuk Bandabi Sports Center was established as part of the 2022 Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s project to support the expansion of community-based national sports facilities. The center aims to promote balanced sports development and consideration for socially disadvantaged groups by providing a space for both people with and without disabilities. The facility will have one basement level and three above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 2,633 square meters. Major amenities will include an aquatic exercise room, a fitness center, a screen park golf course, and a gymnasium. Completion is targeted for August 2027.


Approximately 100 people attended the groundbreaking ceremony, including Chuncheon Mayor Yuk Donghan, Chuncheon City Council Chairman Kim Jinho, Chuncheon Sports Council President Lee Kanggyun, Chuncheon Urban Corporation President Hong Young, as well as representatives from local organizations in Sinbuk-eup and residents.


A Chuncheon City official stated, "We will steadily push forward with the project to reduce the gap in sports infrastructure between regions and ensure that everyone can enjoy sports in their daily lives."
