Fulfilling a Long-Awaited Wish for Single-Family Residential Areas
Strengthening the Foundation for Tailored Senior Welfare Policies
Guri City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyunghyun) announced on December 19 that the completion ceremony for the Galmaedong Cooperative Village Senior Center was held successfully.

The ceremony was attended by over 100 people, including Baek Kyunghyun, Mayor of Guri City; Shin Donghwa, Chairman of the Guri City Council; Jang Suyong, President of the Guri Branch of the Korean Senior Citizens Association; Ahn Sanghwan, President of the Cooperative Village Senior Center; and residents of Galmaedong, who all gathered to celebrate the completion of the center.
The event featured the introduction of distinguished guests, a progress report, presentation of certificates of appreciation, commemorative and congratulatory speeches, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and a group photo session, making for a meaningful occasion.
The Cooperative Village Senior Center (President Ahn Sanghwan) is a single-story building equipped with a kitchen, communal spaces, a room for grandfathers, a room for grandmothers, and various other amenities. Currently, about 30 members use the facility, and it is expected to serve as a comfortable community gathering place where seniors can relax and socialize.
A Guri City official stated, "The completion of the Cooperative Village Senior Center, which has long been a wish of the seniors in the single-family residential area of Galmaedong, is very meaningful. As the senior population continues to grow, we will further strengthen our support to implement a variety of tailored welfare policies for the elderly and to create the highest-quality senior center environments in the country."
