Samsung Electronics Unveils Industry’s First 2nm AP 'Exynos 2600'

Equipped with Galaxy S26 Series
Samsung Achieves Mass Production
Generative AI Performance Improved by 113% Over Previous Model

Samsung Electronics has unveiled the Exynos 2600, the mobile application processor (AP) that will be installed in the flagship Galaxy S26 series, scheduled for release early next year.

On December 19, Samsung Electronics introduced the details of the Exynos 2600 on its official website.

The Exynos 2600 is a semiconductor chip designed by the System LSI division of the Device Solutions (DS) business and manufactured by Samsung Foundry using a cutting-edge 2-nanometer (nm; 1 nm = one billionth of a meter) gate-all-around (GAA) process.

The AP serves as the brain of a smartphone, and the Exynos 2600 is the industry’s first AP to adopt the 2-nanometer GAA process.

Samsung Electronics labeled the product status of the Exynos 2600 as “mass production” on its website.

This suggests that the yield rate (the proportion of non-defective finished products) has improved enough to enable mass production of the chip. The Exynos 2600 is expected to be featured in the Galaxy S26 series.

The Exynos 2600, which integrates the central processing unit (CPU), neural processing unit (NPU), and graphics processing unit (GPU) into a single chip, provides enhanced artificial intelligence (AI) and gaming experiences.

Notably, with a deca-core (10-core) CPU based on the latest Arm architecture, the Exynos 2600 delivers up to 39% higher CPU computing performance compared to its predecessor (Exynos 2500), and its powerful NPU boosts generative AI performance by 113%.

Additionally, as the first mobile system-on-chip (SoC) to introduce the heat pass block (HPB), it reduces thermal resistance by up to 16%, allowing the chip to maintain stable internal temperatures even under heavy workloads.

It also supports ultra-high-resolution cameras up to 320 megapixels (MP), and with newly introduced AI-based visual perception system (VPS) and APV™ codec, users can capture smarter and clearer photos.

Samsung Electronics plans to hold the “Galaxy Unpacked 2026” event in the United States at the end of February next year, where it will unveil the Galaxy S26 series.
