During the 12·3 Martial Law, some officers and non-commissioned officers from the Army Special Warfare Command’s 707th Special Mission Group who were deployed to the National Assembly were reassigned to separate posts.
According to the Ministry of National Defense on December 19, several officers and non-commissioned officers from the 707th Special Mission Group who were deployed to the National Assembly during the 12·3 Martial Law have been temporarily reassigned to the Army’s 7th Corps until the ministry’s related investigation is concluded.
A Ministry of National Defense official stated, “Over the past three weeks, the Constitutional Respect and Government Innovation Task Force (TF) has been receiving reports,” adding, “In order to conduct a fair and transparent investigation and verify the facts regarding those who were reported, we considered the nature of their duties and the content of the reports, and decided to temporarily reassign some personnel.”
Meanwhile, the Constitutional Respect and Government Innovation TF at the Ministry of National Defense determined that certain matters related to the Defense Intelligence Command among the reports received may be necessary for the investigation process, and transferred the relevant materials to the Defense Special Investigation Headquarters yesterday.
