Financial Services Commission Reports to President Lee Jaemyung
Lee Eogwon, Chairman of the Financial Services Commission, announced during a presidential work briefing to President Lee Jaemyung that seven projects, including artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, and secondary batteries, have been selected as the first mega-projects to receive support from the 150 trillion won National Growth Fund.
At the work briefing held at the annex of the Government Complex Seoul on the 19th, Chairman Lee stated, "We have selected seven candidates for the first mega-projects, such as AI, semiconductors, and secondary batteries, which are expected to have a significant economic ripple effect across regions and the entire industrial ecosystem."
The National Growth Fund, which will be established with a total of 150 trillion won, will provide broad support for advanced strategic industries such as AI, semiconductors, bio, and robotics, as well as their related ecosystems. Starting next year, 30 trillion won will be supplied annually for the next five years.
More than 40% of the total funding will be allocated to regional areas. The government will also pursue advanced industrialization by improving the efficiency of policy finance, such as public guarantees to enhance industrial support, and by promoting the AI transformation of the financial industry itself.
