Private Investment Exceeds 250 Billion Won
Full-Scale Launch of Eco-Friendly Sixth Industry Cluster
Cheongdo County (Governor Kim Hasu) announced on December 18 that it has signed an investment agreement with the iCOOP Consumers’ Cooperative Federation (hereafter referred to as iCOOP Cooperative) to promote the development and investment activation of the Cheongdo Natural Dream Park General Industrial Complex.
This agreement stipulates that iCOOP Cooperative will invest more than 250 billion won in the Cheongdo Natural Dream Park General Industrial Complex, which Cheongdo County will develop with a total investment exceeding 350 billion won.
iCOOP Cooperative plans to gradually establish 15 agricultural product processing and logistics facilities, as well as cultural and complex facilities such as a hospital, an anti-cancer research institute, a hotel, a movie theater, and a sports center.
The investment period is set within five years after the completion of the industrial complex, with the goal of creating an eco-friendly sixth industry cluster linked to local agriculture.
The Cheongdo Natural Dream Park General Industrial Complex is expected to be developed on approximately 290,000 square meters in Deoksan-ri and Dugok-ri, Maejun-myeon, Cheongdo County, North Gyeongsang Province.
Through this project, the county expects to increase the added value of local agricultural products, attract more than 1,000 new residents, and create about 700 jobs.
With this investment agreement, Cheongdo County plans to provide essential infrastructure-such as roads, water supply, electricity, telecommunications, and sewage treatment-in a timely manner and to expedite various administrative approval processes. iCOOP Cooperative is expected to purchase the land, install and operate the facilities, and support the entry of related companies, thereby establishing a virtuous cycle that connects production, processing, and distribution.
In addition, iCOOP Cooperative plans to return a portion of the economic benefits generated during the development and operation of the industrial complex to the public in the form of public contributions.
These public contributions will be implemented in various ways, such as providing public infrastructure accessible to local residents, expanding the purchase of local agricultural products, creating jobs for young people and local residents, and establishing and operating public infrastructure for healthcare and care services.
Kim Hasu, Governor of Cheongdo County, stated, "We will form a working-level consultative body for the Cheongdo Natural Dream Park project to continuously monitor the progress of the investment implementation, and we will concentrate our administrative capabilities to ensure that the development of the industrial complex and the entry of companies proceed smoothly, providing ongoing and responsible administrative support."
