Detects Parcel Arrival and Removal with Dual Cameras
Linked to S-1's Nationwide Emergency Response Network
Integrated with Samsung SmartThings App
S-1 has teamed up with Samsung Electronics to target the home security market. The importance of security at the front door has grown, as incidents of parcel theft are rapidly increasing and approximately 26% of violent crimes occur in residential areas.
On December 22, S-1 announced that it has recently launched the "Samsung AI Doorcam" in collaboration with Samsung Electronics. The Samsung AI Doorcam is an intelligent home security product that combines S-1's emergency response infrastructure and AI video analysis technology with Samsung Electronics' SmartThings platform.
The key feature of the Samsung AI Doorcam is its dual upper and lower camera structure, which helps prevent loss or theft of items left at the door. The upper camera captures the face of the visitor, while the lower camera records parcels placed on the ground. Images captured by the lower camera are sent to a cloud-based AI analysis server, enabling users to receive notifications when a parcel arrives or disappears.
The Samsung AI Doorcam also offers a 24-hour emergency dispatch service with a separate subscription. In case of an emergency, a nearby S-1 security officer is immediately dispatched to the scene to assess and handle the situation. With S-1's nationwide network of over 100 emergency response centers, prompt on-site action is possible, providing effective crime prevention.
Amid rising concerns over security due to a series of hacking and video leakage incidents involving overseas-manufactured IoT devices, the Samsung AI Doorcam is manufactured domestically and meets Samsung Electronics' security standards, minimizing the risk of hacking and video leaks. It is also equipped with a privacy masking feature, allowing users to manually block the view of neighboring doors or common areas, thus preventing privacy violations in advance.
Convenience has also been enhanced. The Samsung AI Doorcam is integrated with Samsung Electronics' SmartThings smart home platform, allowing users to view footage through the SmartThings app. When a visitor presses the doorbell, real-time video can be viewed on Samsung Smart TVs, Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerators, Bespoke AI Combo, and washing machines connected to SmartThings. This enables users to check visitors even while cooking or relaxing in the living room. The device also supports two-way voice communication via the SmartThings app, allowing real-time conversations with visitors without having to go to the intercom.
The Samsung AI Doorcam is available for purchase on Samsung.com, at Samsung Stores nationwide, and through major online marketplaces. S-1 and Samsung Electronics plan to expand their distribution channels through mutual cooperation. A representative from S-1 stated, "With the expansion of online shopping, parcel theft is on the rise, and violent crimes in residential areas are also increasing, leading to greater concerns about home security. As a leading security company, we have carefully developed this product over a long period to address these social issues. We aim to help create an era where security naturally becomes part of everyday life."
