"It's not like I was eavesdropping," Park responds with a smile
"A fun primary is one where everyone presents what they've prepared"
Park Jumin, a lawmaker from the Democratic Party of Korea who has declared his candidacy for Seoul Mayor in next year's local elections, responded to a question about whether he is concerned about Jeong Wonoh, the head of Seongdong District, by saying, "Everyone is just doing their best."
In an interview with MBC Radio on the 19th, Park gave a tactful answer regarding Jeong, who is also being mentioned as a potential candidate for Seoul Mayor, drawing attention.
On the previous day, Jeong requested a meeting with Democratic Party leader Jeong Cheongrae and met with him at the National Assembly. After a 30-minute meeting, Jeong told reporters, "I had the meeting to discuss various matters," adding, "Please understand it as preparation for a long journey ahead." This move effectively signaled his intention to run.
Regarding the meeting, Park said, "(Leader Jeong) meets with anyone who requests a meeting," downplaying its significance. When asked whether he had any plans to meet with Leader Jeong, Park replied, "I will request a meeting when necessary." When asked if he was aware of the details of their conversation, he laughed and said, "It's not like I was eavesdropping..."
Regarding the Democratic Party's primary for Seoul Mayor, Park said, "It should be fun," explaining, "A fun primary is one where everyone presents what they have prepared and engages in debates."
