This evaluation comprehensively reviewed the performance of the road name address system, the spread of its use, and efforts to improve services among metropolitan and basic local governments nationwide. Seongnam City was recognized for its excellent performance in overall system operation and, along with the Prime Minister’s Institutional Commendation, will receive a special grant of 50 million won.
Seongnam City has promoted the use of road name addresses by providing on-site education for elementary school students and conducting ongoing public campaigns for citizens. The city has also strengthened address infrastructure with a focus on citizen safety by installing CPTED-based illuminated address information facilities that allow address identification at night and operating the Address Safety Reporting Center.
A Seongnam City official stated, “This award is the result of active policy initiatives to promote road name addresses, combined with citizen participation,” adding, “We will continue to pursue a variety of projects to further increase the use of road name addresses in the future.”
