Prosecution Requests Supplementary Investigation into 'Stalking Allegations' Against Former UN Member Actor Choi Jungwon

Prosecution Requests Supplementary Investigation into 'Stalking Allegations' Against Former UN Member Actor Choi Jungwon Actor Choi Jungwon

The prosecution has requested a supplementary investigation regarding actor Choi Jungwon, formerly of the music group UN.

Choi was previously referred to the prosecution on charges of stalking a woman.

According to the prosecution on December 18, the Women's and Children's Crime Investigation Division 2 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (headed by Chief Prosecutor Jeong Gajin) recently returned the case to the Seoul Jungbu Police Station.

This came about a month after the Jungbu Police Station referred Choi to the prosecution on November 12 on charges of violating the Act on Punishment of Stalking Crimes.

The specific reasons for the request for a supplementary investigation have not been disclosed.

Choi is suspected of repeatedly visiting the home of a woman who was known to be his girlfriend at the time. Allegations have also been raised that he possessed a weapon during these incidents.

In August, the police applied to the court for an emergency restraining order prohibiting Choi from approaching within 100 meters of the victim's residence and from making contact via telecommunications.

Choi denies the charges.
