At approximately 10:16 a.m. on December 18, a 12-vehicle collision occurred at Dogye Square Intersection in Sodap-dong, Uichang-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongnam Province.
According to the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency and Changwon Fire Headquarters, a 5-ton cargo truck struck a sport utility vehicle (SUV) that was waiting at a red light in the first lane at the intersection.
The impact caused the cargo truck to bounce off and collide with vehicles waiting at the signal in the second lane, resulting in a total of 12 vehicles being involved in the collision.
Fifteen people sustained minor injuries in the accident. Among them, a man and a woman in their 40s were transported to the hospital with symptoms such as neck pain and headaches.
At the time of the accident, the truck driver, a man in his 70s, was found not to be under the influence of alcohol and was not driving without a license.
The police are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
