Launch Ceremony for the Disabled Sports Festival Organizing Committee Held Simultaneously
Organizational Structure Completed, Full-Scale Preparations Begin
Gurye County in South Jeolla Province announced on December 18 that it held the "2026 Jeonnam Sports Festival D-100 Days Countdown Lighting Ceremony" at the Culture and Arts Center on the 17th, wishing for the success of the 2026 Jeonnam Sports Festival and Jeonnam Disabled Sports Festival.
More than 150 people, including County Governor Kim Soonho, members of the county council, representatives from the sports association, related organizations, heads of social organizations, and organizing committee members, attended the event to reaffirm their commitment to successfully hosting both sports festivals.

The event featured a variety of programs in a festive atmosphere, including a pre-ceremony performance, presentation of appointment letters to organizing committee members, reading of a resolution, a progress report on the preparations, the lighting ceremony, and a performance wishing for the success of the festivals using sports towels.
In particular, the atmosphere was further heightened as the event was held in conjunction with the launch ceremony of the 34th Jeollanam-do Disabled Sports Festival Organizing Committee.
An official from the county stated, "With the launch of the Jeollanam-do Sports Festival Organizing Committee in September, we have now completed the organizational structure for both festivals. We will accelerate our preparations for the events."
Governor Kim Soonho said, "The 2026 Jeonnam Sports Festival and Jeonnam Disabled Sports Festival are important events that will showcase Gurye's strength and reputation both domestically and internationally. We will make thorough preparations during the remaining period to ensure a satisfying event for both athletes and spectators."
Meanwhile, the Jeonnam Sports Festival and Jeonnam Disabled Sports Festival are the largest comprehensive sports events in South Jeolla Province, with participation from all 22 cities and counties. The Jeonnam Sports Festival will be held in Gurye from April 10 to April 13, 2026 (for four days), and the Jeonnam Disabled Sports Festival will take place from April 22 to April 24, 2026 (for three days).
