Since its establishment in 1988 as the nation's first local development corporation, Daegu Urban Development Corporation has made the stabilization of citizens' housing and the improvement of quality of life its top priorities, continuously promoting the supply of customized rental housing and the enhancement of housing welfare services. The corporation received high marks for its systematic support for vulnerable groups and the establishment of a citizen-oriented housing welfare service delivery system.

To address housing issues among young people, the corporation has strengthened policy cooperation with local governments and implemented policies to supply customized rental housing and ease housing cost burdens. By providing youth-oriented rental housing such as Happy Housing and Integrated Public Rental Housing, supporting rental and deposit interest, and creating dedicated spaces for young people, the corporation has contributed to improving the residential environment for the youth.

Priority supply and housing support for self-reliant youth and low-income young people have also been recognized as major achievements. In addition, the corporation has worked to support housing stability for ordinary citizens by providing emergency housing assistance and rental support for victims of rental fraud and households facing housing crises. It has stably managed and supplied various types of public rental housing, including permanent rental housing, national rental housing, and public rental housing, continuously expanding the foundation for citizens' housing stability.

The corporation has also actively promoted customized improvements to the residential environment for the elderly and the housing vulnerable. By introducing a smart water remote metering system and improving barrier-free facilities, it has enhanced convenience and safety. The green remodeling project for energy savings and environmental improvement has contributed to both qualitative improvement of the residential environment and carbon reduction.

Furthermore, the corporation has worked to create a safe residential environment without blind spots by improving crime prevention environments based on CPTED, installing CCTV and streetlights, and strengthening regular and ad-hoc safety inspections. The establishment of a housing welfare center and the expansion of professional counseling staff to provide integrated support-including counseling, case management, and follow-up care-for vulnerable groups were also recognized as key achievements for this award.

Jung Myungsub, President of Daegu Urban Development Corporation, stated, "This Prime Minister's Commendation is recognition of our consistent efforts to implement housing welfare policies that address the lives of all citizens, from young people to vulnerable groups. We will continue to create a safe and warm residential environment through customized housing welfare services that citizens can truly feel."
