Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance announced on December 18 that it achieved a "triple crown" by receiving the Governor Award of the Financial Supervisory Service, the Commissioner Award of the National Police Agency, and the Chairman Award of the General Insurance Association at the "2025 Insurance Crime Prevention Meritorious Person Awards Ceremony" held at Bankers Hall in Myeongdong, Jung-gu, Seoul.

This awards ceremony, now in its 25th year, is jointly hosted by the General Insurance Association and the Life Insurance Association, with support from the Financial Services Commission, the Financial Supervisory Service, and the National Police Agency. The event is held annually to honor the achievements of police officers and industry investigators who have contributed to the prevention and detection of insurance fraud, and to strengthen cooperation among related organizations.

This year, 125 individuals-including police officers and members of insurance companies' Special Investigation Units (SIU)-were recognized for their contributions. Among non-life insurers, Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance was the only company to simultaneously win all three institutional awards: the Governor Award of the Financial Supervisory Service, the Commissioner Award of the National Police Agency, and the Chairman Award of the General Insurance Association.

The Governor Award of the Financial Supervisory Service was presented to Jeonghun Kim, Head of the Investigation Office; the Commissioner Award of the National Police Agency went to Choongho Park, Head of the Investigation Office; and the Chairman Award of the General Insurance Association was given to Seungil Cho, Senior Deputy General Manager, and Jaeman Lee, Senior Manager. Jeonghun Kim, who received the Governor Award, was recognized for uncovering 312 individuals-including hospital directors and broker organizations-who fraudulently issued documents for gynecomastia and hyperhidrosis surgeries and illicitly obtained approximately 1.6 billion KRW in insurance payouts. Choongho Park, recipient of the Commissioner Award, was honored for identifying a group of 46 people who, after purchasing multiple cerebrovascular and cardiovascular insurance policies, obtained false medical certificates from a specific hospital and fraudulently claimed about 6 billion KRW in insurance benefits.

A representative from Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance stated, "Eradicating insurance fraud is essential to protecting honest policyholders and maintaining the soundness of the insurance industry. We will continue to lead efforts to strengthen the social safety net and protect consumers through close cooperation with related organizations, driven by a strong sense of duty."
