Gyeongju City received the Excellence Award in the evaluation of the Eco-friendly Agricultural Materials Support Project, hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

This evaluation comprehensively assessed the performance of local governments and regional agricultural cooperatives nationwide in implementing eco-friendly agricultural materials support projects, such as appropriate fertilizer use and supply of soil conditioners. Gyeongju City was highly rated for the systematic management of the project and its strong on-site management capabilities.

Additionally, in the food policy evaluation conducted by Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, Gyeongju City received the Grand Prize among 21 cities and counties in the province.

By steadily promoting policies for appropriate rice production and fostering the food industry, the city demonstrated its administrative competence in the food sector.

Furthermore, Gyeongju City also received the Excellence Award in the city-county agricultural policy evaluation, being recognized for balanced achievements in 2025 agricultural administration, including the promotion of agricultural transformation policies, securing budgets for agricultural policy, and developing initiatives tailored to local characteristics.

Gyeongju also achieved remarkable results in the livestock sector. The city won the Grand Prize in the comprehensive livestock administration evaluation organized by Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, demonstrating excellence in discovering new projects, implementing key initiatives, and securing budgets across all areas of livestock administration.

Notably, at the National Livestock Brand Competition, Gyeongju’s Hanwoo brand achieved a significant milestone by winning the Grand Prize (Presidential Award) in the National Hanwoo Brand Management category.

This competition, hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and organized by the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, comprehensively evaluated Hanwoo brand management entities nationwide on supply systems, quality control, brand competitiveness, and hygiene and safety management. As a result, the competitiveness of the Gyeongju Hanwoo brand was recognized on a national scale.

Mayor Nakyoung Joo of Gyeongju stated, “These awards are the result of the combined efforts of farmers who have steadfastly supported agriculture and livestock on the ground, and the administration that has backed them. We will continue to lay the foundation for sustainable agriculture and invigorate rural communities and the local economy through competitive agricultural policies.”

Building on these achievements, Gyeongju City plans to further expand eco-friendly agriculture, establish a stable foundation for food production, and strengthen the competitiveness of the livestock industry to ensure the sustainable development of agriculture and rural areas.
