In an era where cyberattacks have become commonplace, Ulsan City has been recognized as the safest metropolitan municipality.

Ulsan City received the Director of the National Intelligence Service Award in the institution and organization category at the "2025 Cybersecurity Regular Awards" hosted by the National Intelligence Service.

The city was selected as a distinguished institution for its contributions to proactive responses to cyberattacks and strengthening its security management system, including ranking first among 17 cities and provinces nationwide in the 2024 Local Government Information Security Management Assessment.

In particular, Ulsan City received high marks for establishing a proactive security posture to prepare for cyberattacks, strengthening its organization-wide cybersecurity management system, and building a safe and trustworthy information protection infrastructure.

The city was noted for implementing a preemptive defense system that blocks vulnerabilities from the information collection stage and for continuously improving its security level through effective response strategies.

Additionally, Ulsan City has raised the level of security management by conducting regular training to enhance cybersecurity awareness within the organization and reinforcing vulnerability inspections through on-site audits.

Furthermore, the city has strengthened its crisis response capabilities by conducting annual simulated phishing email drills and other exercises that mimic real-world cyberattack scenarios.

An Ulsan City official stated, "We will further enhance cybersecurity through thorough preparation for cyberattacks and continuous improvement of our security systems, and we will do our utmost to ensure that 'Ulsan, the AI Capital' can provide safe governance in the field of cybersecurity in this era of digital transformation."
