According to the city on December 18, the "Carbon Neutrality Point System" is a representative citizen participation program aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In the energy sector, if participants reduce their electricity, water, or gas usage by more than 5% compared to their average usage over the past two years, households can receive up to 100,000 won per year and commercial facilities up to 400,000 won per year as incentives.

In the automotive sector of the Carbon Neutrality Point System, if participants reduce their driving distance by comparing the mileage at the start and end of the participation period, they can receive up to 100,000 won in incentives per year.

In the first half of this year, participants achieved a total reduction of 4,911 tons of greenhouse gas emissions through daily energy-saving practices. This is equivalent to planting 1.1 million 20-year-old pine trees annually.

In this regard, the city is recruiting participants for the Carbon Neutrality Point System (energy) throughout the year to promote the practice of carbon neutrality in daily life, while recruitment for the Carbon Neutrality Point System (automotive) takes place annually around February to March.

Citizens wishing to participate in the Carbon Neutrality Point System (energy) can check their electricity, water, or gas customer number or subscriber number and sign up through the Carbon Neutrality Point System website, or apply in person at the Climate Change Response Division or their local community center.

For the Carbon Neutrality Point System (automotive), participation is possible after signing up as a member or reapplying through the Carbon Neutrality Point System (automotive) website.

However, if there are any changes to address, contact information, or bank account details after registration, participants must update their personal information on the Carbon Neutrality Point System website in order to receive incentives properly.

Jin Kyohoon, Director of Welfare and Environment at Jeonju City, said, "We ask for the active interest and participation of citizens in the Carbon Neutrality Point System, where you can practice carbon neutrality in your daily life and receive incentives as well."
