The Teacher Pride Contest is an annual event jointly hosted by the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education and the Busan Community Education Council to discover and encourage teachers who have devoted themselves to education as their calling, and to spread a culture of respect for teachers and love for students.
This year, more than 450 essays were submitted by elementary, middle, high school, and special school students and parents. After the first and second rounds of judging, the final awardees were selected. The 89 recipients included those honored in the student category with the "Respect for Teachers Award," in the parent category with the "Appreciated Parent Award," and in the teacher category with the "Proud Teacher Award" for recommended teachers.
By category, 44 teachers-including Park Yebin of Seongnam Elementary School in Beomil-dong, Dong-gu-were recognized in the teacher category; 29 students-including Kim Gyubin of Bugyeong Health High School in Jangnim-dong, Saha-gu-were recognized in the student category; and 16 parents-including Park Sunju of Dongsam Elementary School in Dongsam-dong, Yeongdo-gu-were recognized in the parent category.
Approximately 250 people attended the ceremony, including Superintendent Kim Seokjun, Chairman Park Jongpil of the Busan Community Education Council, heads of each district education support office, as well as students, parents, and teachers. Together, they celebrated the passion and dedication of teachers who have worked tirelessly for the growth of children in the educational field. The event was especially meaningful as students and parents participated directly to express their appreciation for their teachers' dedication.
Superintendent Kim Seokjun stated, "I sincerely thank the teachers who have stood by our students with unmatched passion even in challenging circumstances," and added, "I hope this awards ceremony will serve as an opportunity for respect and trust to take deeper root within our educational community."
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education plans to continue supporting related events to foster the growth of the educational community based on trust and communication among teachers, students, and parents.
