Daejeon City Selects Two Integrity Public Officials for 2025

Daejeon City has selected two individuals as this year's "Integrity Public Officials," recognizing their exemplary dedication to their duties with integrity and their efforts to enhance residents' convenience.

The selection process for the "Integrity Public Officials of the Year" was conducted from September 2 to October 31. Candidates recommended by their department heads or civic organizations underwent document screening, on-site inspections, and public verification of their achievements via the internal bulletin board. The final selection was made through a review committee.

The officials selected for their integrity are: ▲Jintae Kim, Officer of the Urban Planning Division, Daedeok District, and ▲Gwak Sangun, Fire Lieutenant of the Fire Administration Division, Daejeon Fire Headquarters. Both have demonstrated a commitment to integrity as public servants and have faithfully carried out their responsibilities.

Jintae Kim, as the official in charge of urban regeneration projects in Daedeok District, managed the Daehwa-dong urban regeneration project transparently and fairly, earning an excellent rating for two consecutive years in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s performance evaluation.

Additionally, in order to secure selection for the Jungni-dong urban regeneration project this year, he maintained continuous communication with the residents’ council, developed a project plan reflecting residents’ opinions, and contributed to minimizing conflicts among residents.

Gwak Sangun, as the officer in charge of contract administration, strengthened pre-contract review procedures, such as establishing internal review processes for contract performance certificates, thereby ensuring transparency in contract administration and preventing procedural errors in advance.

He was also highly recognized for his consistent dedication to his work, including receiving the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award at the research presentation contest on strengthening on-site response capabilities.

This year’s Integrity Public Officials will receive a mayoral commendation and an award, and their personal information will be permanently recorded in the city’s annual report, among other special privileges.

Daejeon Mayor Lee Jangwoo stated, "Congratulations on being selected as Integrity Public Officials through exemplary public service," adding, "We will continue to actively identify and recognize public officials who practice integrity and take the lead, so that Daejeon can become a city of shared integrity and greater value."

Since 1998, Daejeon City has selected Integrity Public Officials every year to promote change and reform in the public sector and to establish the image of a proper public servant who inspires citizens. To date, a total of 57 officials have been honored.
