Paju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on December 18 that it has been selected as an outstanding local government in the implementation of the ‘Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon’ program, organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and has secured a special grant of 150 million won.
The ‘Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon’ was distributed nationwide as part of a special measure to revitalize the livelihood economy, aiming to boost consumption and increase sales for small business owners and self-employed individuals.
Paju City recorded a high coupon distribution rate of 98.6% and a usage rate of 99.4%. The city actively promoted the use of the coupons both online and offline, and made efforts to newly register local currency merchants and expand the number of eligible stores. As a result, the number of places where the coupons could be used increased from 14,961 to 17,094.
This evaluation of outstanding local governments for the ‘Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon’ program was conducted directly by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, based on system statistics and supporting documents, targeting 243 local governments including Paju City. The evaluation criteria included: ▲coupon distribution performance ▲coupon usage and expansion of eligible stores ▲improvements in the convenience of coupon application and distribution ▲promotion performance ▲best practices, among others.
A Paju City official stated, “This achievement was made possible by the concerted efforts of all our staff throughout the application and implementation process of the Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon,” adding, “We will continue to develop various policies to sustain the positive effects of the coupon program and further vitalize the local economy.”
