Prosecutors: "Prevented Rescue Measures After the Crime"
Son-in-law and Daughter Also Face Prison and Fines for Involvement
Prosecutors have sought a heavy sentence for a woman in her 50s who severed her husband's body parts at a cafe in Ganghwa Island, Incheon.
According to Yonhap News Agency on December 17, prosecutors requested a 15-year prison sentence for Ms. A (57), who was indicted on charges including attempted murder, during the final hearing held at the Incheon District Court Criminal Division 13 (Presiding Judge Kim Gipung) that day. Prosecutors also requested the court to impose five years of probation and require her to wear an electronic ankle monitor for 10 years.

Prosecutors explained, "Ms. A stabbed her husband with a weapon about 50 times and severed major body parts. After committing the crime, she left the scene and took items such as the car keys, preventing rescue efforts."
They further stated, "Although the defendant claims to reflect on her actions, she continues to respond that the crime was committed due to the victim's behavior," explaining the reason for seeking a heavy sentence. Prosecutors also requested a seven-year prison sentence and 10 years of electronic monitoring for Ms. A's son-in-law, Mr. B (39), who was indicted on the same charges, and a fine of 3 million won for Ms. A's daughter, Ms. C (36), who was partially involved in the crime.
In the closing argument, Ms. A's legal representative stated, "The defendant admits and regrets all charges except for the attempted murder. Regarding the attempted murder, she continues to insist that she had no intention to kill and did not have murderous intent, and therefore requests a not guilty verdict on this charge."
Meanwhile, Ms. A is accused of stabbing her husband, Mr. D, who is also in his 50s, multiple times with a weapon and severing his vital body parts in an attempt to kill him at a cafe in Ganghwa County, Incheon, around 1 a.m. on August 1. During this incident, Mr. B is accused of participating in the attempted murder by restraining Mr. D with tape, and Ms. C is accused of helping track the victim's location through a private investigator along with her son.
Mr. D was transported to the hospital and underwent surgery after emergency responders arrived following a report. It was reported that his life is not in danger.
During the trial, Ms. A claimed, "I did it because of my husband's affair," but prosecutors believe that Ms. A committed the crime due to delusional jealousy and obsession with her husband.
