Gijang County in Busan Recognized for Exemplary Case of Drone-Based Individual Land Price Assessment

Jinju City Officials Visit for Benchmarking
Enhancing Accuracy and Efficiency in Land Characteristic Surveys

Gijang County (Governor Jung Jongbok) announced on December 17 that officials from Jinju City recently visited Gijang County to benchmark its exemplary case of using drones (unmanned aerial vehicles) for land characteristic surveys related to individual officially assessed land prices.

This visit was organized to share Gijang County’s leading case of introducing and operating drone-based land characteristic surveys to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of individual land price assessments, and to actively apply these practices to Jinju City’s land administration.

On this day, Jinju City officials received explanations from county officials on the specific procedures and operational know-how for using aerial images obtained by drones to precisely analyze the current status and characteristics of land, and how these are reflected in the calculation of individual official land prices. In particular, practical methods for accurately identifying land characteristics in areas with difficult field access were intensively shared.

Using drones allows for the accurate assessment of land status in a short period, even in areas with complex terrain or where vehicle access is difficult. This approach has been highly praised for increasing the reliability of land price assessments and reducing the burden on survey personnel and time.

An official from Jinju City stated, "Gijang County’s drone-based method for assessing individual official land prices is a pioneering case that overcomes the limitations of traditional field surveys and enhances both fairness and efficiency. We expect this benchmarking to provide practical benefits for improving land administration in Jinju City."

An official from Gijang County said, "Since the assessment of individual official land prices is an important administrative work directly linked to residents’ property rights, ensuring credibility is of utmost importance. We will continue to advance land administration by actively utilizing advanced technologies such as drones and by exchanging best practices with other local governments."

In 2025, Gijang County once again proved its status as a leading local government in land administration by becoming the first among the 16 districts and counties in Busan Metropolitan City to receive awards in all categories in the land administration evaluation.
