Another "Best" Report Card... Cheongsong County Achieves Top Ministry of the Interior and Safety Rating for Three Consecutive Years

Cheongsong County in North Gyeongsang Province (Governor Yoon Kyunghee) has been honored with the title of "Best Local Government" for three consecutive years, following its "Excellence" rating in 2023 and "Best Excellence" in 2024, in the local government financial analysis evaluation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that, as a result of its 2025 financial analysis of 243 local governments nationwide, Cheongsong County was selected as the "Best Local Government" in recognition of both its fiscal soundness and efficiency.


Accordingly, Cheongsong County will receive a commendation from the Minister of the Interior and Safety, as well as a special grant incentive of 100 million won.


The financial analysis is a flagship local fiscal monitoring system of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. It classifies all local governments nationwide into five peer groups (special/metropolitan cities, provinces, cities, counties, districts) and conducts a comprehensive analysis based on the previous year’s budget and settlement data, covering three areas-soundness, efficiency, and planning-across 14 key fiscal indicators.


Cheongsong County was selected as an "Excellent Local Government" in 2023, receiving a special grant of 50 million won, and as the "Best Local Government" in 2024, receiving a special grant of 100 million won. With this year’s consecutive win, the county has firmly established its status as an outstanding institution in financial analysis for three consecutive years.


In particular, Cheongsong County’s consolidated current liabilities ratio stood at 2.66%, lower than the peer group average of 3.91%, earning high marks for fiscal soundness. The change rate in local tax arrears was -19.35%, far surpassing the peer group average of -4.23%, demonstrating excellence in arrears management. Additionally, the proportion of local subsidies was 5.87%, below the peer group average of 8.1%, highlighting outstanding performance in fiscal efficiency as well.


An official from Cheongsong County stated, "This valuable achievement was made possible by the cooperation of our residents and the meticulous efforts of public officials," adding, "We will continue to pursue transparent and responsible fiscal management to create a financial system that residents participate in and trust."
