Daegu Veterans Office Presents Presidential Certificate of National Merit to Family of the Late Independence Activist Kwon Subaek

Participation in the 1919 Uiseong Independence Movement
Posthumous Presidential Commendation Awarded on This Year's Liberation Day

The Daegu Regional Veterans Office of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (Director Kim Jongsul) invited the family of the newly registered independence activist, the late Kwon Subaek, on December 17 and personally presented them with the Presidential Certificate of National Merit.


The late Kwon Subaek actively encouraged residents in the Uiseong County area of North Gyeongsang Province to participate in the March 1919 independence demonstrations, contributing to the spread of the independence movement. In recognition of these achievements, he was posthumously awarded the Presidential Commendation on August 15, 2025, Liberation Day.


This presentation ceremony was organized to honor the noble sacrifice and patriotism of the independence activist and to reaffirm this spirit together with the bereaved family.


The Daegu Regional Veterans Office continues to organize such events to pay tribute to the families of newly registered independence activists and to express the nation’s gratitude and respect.


Kim Jongsul, Director of the Daegu Regional Veterans Office, stated, "We will never forget the contributions of the independence activists who dedicated themselves to our nation's freedom," adding, "We will do our utmost to respectfully honor the families of patriots and to promote a culture of respect and gratitude for independence activists throughout society."
