Conditional Selection of Oryong Village, Sangbuk-myeon
The blueprint for the comprehensive funeral facility, a long-cherished project of Yangsan City-a place everyone visits but no one welcomes-has finally taken shape.
On December 16, Yangsan City in Gyeongnam Province conditionally selected the Oeseok-ri area in Sangbuk-myeon as the preferred negotiation site for the installation of the comprehensive funeral facility, a project that has been under consideration for many years. This decision was made after reviewing two candidate sites.
This selection was made by comprehensively considering factors that reflect social, geographical, and economic conditions, including the rate of resident consent, potential for collective civil complaints, location and surrounding traffic conditions, development of access roads and other infrastructure, and economic feasibility.
The selected site received consent from more than 70% of residents in Oryong Village, Sangbuk-myeon, resulting in fewer collective civil complaints. It was also evaluated as relatively suitable in terms of the distance from the village and surrounding facilities, as well as the self-financing ratio and the economic feasibility of site development.
However, this selection is not a final confirmation but rather a stage for preferred negotiations, and it may change depending on future consultations. According to the recent review, there is still local opposition in the area demanding measures to address blasting, vibration, and noise, and further discussions are needed regarding the expansion of access roads and private road sections.
Therefore, the city has decided to go through a process of resolving preconditions over a certain period to minimize inconvenience to citizens and ensure the project aligns with local conditions before making a final decision on whether to proceed with the project.
Yangsan City hopes to smoothly resolve civil complaints and conflicts related to development in the area selected as the preferred negotiation site. The city also plans to continuously reflect the opinions of local residents and carefully consider environmental factors throughout the project implementation process.
