Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province has obtained the 2025 Smart City Certification from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The Smart City Certification system, implemented since 2021, comprehensively assesses the smart capabilities and urban service levels of local governments, certifying their excellence.
Bucheon City first received Smart City Certification in 2021, followed by recertification in 2023, and has now achieved excellent results once again in the 2025 evaluation. The mobile integrated platform 'Bucheonin' is cited as a representative achievement. Based on an electronic citizen ID, 'Bucheonin' integrates a variety of functions, from public facility use to unmanned parking payment and tailored city administration notifications, significantly enhancing convenience in citizens' everyday lives.
In addition, the 'Onmaeum AI Welfare Call' service was recognized for quickly delivering essential welfare information to vulnerable groups, helping to address welfare blind spots.
Building on these achievements, the city plans to thoroughly implement the 'Second Bucheon City Smart City Plan,' which will be pursued from this year through 2029, with the goal of establishing a sustainable smart city model that citizens can truly experience.
Mayor Jo Yong-ik of Bucheon stated, "Obtaining the Smart City Certification is the result of prioritizing citizen convenience and safety while promoting smart administration." He added, "We will continue to expand practical smart policies so that technological advancements can provide tangible benefits in citizens' daily lives."
