On December 17, Pocheon City announced that it had signed the 'Hantangang Global Geopark Geo-Partner Agreement' in the presence of city hall officials and representatives of private organizations. This agreement was established to develop differentiated tourism products by combining the global brand value of the Hantangang with creative content from the private sector.
The 'Geo-Partners' participating in this agreement consist of six organizations with expertise in various fields, including experiential education, cultural content, accommodation, and local communities. The Geo-Partner organizations include Dream Craft Art (led by Choi Hyunkyung), which will run geopark experience programs combining art and education; Locality Pocheon 995 (led by Lee Jihae), which will develop the value of geological sites into products and cultural content; Jailland (led by Park Hanjeong) and Hwajeokyeon Pension (led by Lee Geonjae), which will operate integrated accommodation and experience programs; and Hansamo Cooperative (led by Oh Hakbong) and Hantangang Story Cooperative (also led by Lee Geonjae), which will promote resident-led tourism models.
Through this agreement, Pocheon City and the Geo-Partners plan to set shared sustainable goals for the Hantangang Global Geopark, develop and sell tourism products, and collaborate on the development and sale of accommodation products utilizing the global geopark brand.
A representative from one of the Geo-Partner organizations stated, "This agreement marks a meaningful starting point where the region's geological resources are combined with creative content from the private sector."
A Pocheon City official said, "We expect that this Geo-Partner agreement will serve as an opportunity to elevate the experiential education and tourism content of the Hantangang Global Geopark to the next level through public-private cooperation."
Going forward, Pocheon City plans to gradually promote the operation of accommodation-linked tourism products, expand educational and cultural programs, and develop tourism products utilizing geological resources, thereby attracting more experiential education participants and tourists from outside the region and contributing to the revitalization of the local economy.
