The event was held in Chuncheon on December 11, with the participation of 10 cities and counties and 15 operating villages within the province. The purpose was to share the operational achievements and best practices of each village and to lay the foundation for sustainable village management by strengthening the capabilities of those in charge.
"Living in Gangwon" is a program that supports temporary housing and training expenses for urban residents who wish to return to farming or rural life. It allows them to stay in rural areas for a certain period, experience and understand rural life, participate in agricultural training, and interact with local residents.
Samcheok City selected Sanyang Village Rural Experience and Recreation Village as the operating village and ran the program twice, for three months each in the first and second halves of the year. As a result, 13 people from 10 households participated and all completed the program, with 7 people from 5 households subsequently changing their address to Samcheok City.
The main programs included agricultural experiences focused on growing crops such as potatoes, corn, and kimchi vegetables, meetings with leading farmers, education necessary for rural living, and talent donation activities. In particular, the city emphasized providing farmland information and job connections to help participants settle stably.
An official from the Samcheok City Comprehensive Support Center for Returning to Farming and Rural Migration said, "We will continue to provide practical information and hands-on opportunities for urban residents preparing to return to farming or rural life, so that they can make a stable transition and settlement."
