According to the county on December 17, this evaluation comprehensively assessed all aspects of river maintenance-including the implementation of river maintenance projects and crackdowns on illegal activities within rivers-through two on-site evaluations, once in the first half and once in the second half of the year, targeting 14 cities and counties in the province.
As a result, Imsil County was recognized for its leading efforts in river management work and was selected as the best institution.
To ensure efficient river maintenance, the county invested a project budget of 1.736 billion won to carry out maintenance on 38 local rivers, including dredging of sediment from riverbeds, mowing embankments and removing trees, and repairing various facilities such as aging drainage gates.
In particular, by efficiently managing the movable weirs installed within the rivers, the county achieved tangible results in reducing the risk of flooding during heavy rains and typhoons, thereby protecting the lives and property of residents.
These efforts led to Imsil County's advancement to the top honor as the best institution for the first time in six years since being selected as an excellent institution in 2019.
County Governor Shim Min stated, "This selection as an excellent institution is the result of systematic river maintenance, proactive facility management, and environmental management in cooperation with residents," and added, "We will create a safe and pleasant river environment that residents can use comfortably through systematic and continuous river management."
