On the morning of December 17, the restock purchase application for the Tripfold on Samsung.com closed just two minutes after it began. Samsung.com posted a message stating, "Thank you for your support. The prepared stock has been sold out," and added, "If you request a restock notification, we will inform you when it becomes available again."

On the same day, restocked units also arrived at offline stores, but these were products scheduled for pre-shipment to customers who visited the stores on the launch day, December 12, but were unable to make a purchase. Effectively, the restocked units were sold out immediately upon arrival.

Samsung Electronics announced that customers visiting stores on this day will be assigned a reservation number and will be given priority for purchase when additional stock arrives next month.

Previously, on the launch day, the Tripfold drew attention as all units were sold out immediately after opening at major stores such as Samsung Gangnam and Hongdae. Online, all available units were also sold out within about five minutes of sales opening.

Industry insiders believe that consumer interest has surged beyond expectations because this is the first time Samsung Electronics has introduced a double-folding form factor product.

As a high-end product highlighting its technological prowess, Samsung Electronics initially limited the number of units available for sale to between 3,000 and 4,000. It is reported that the company is also experiencing some difficulties in producing additional stock.

Industry experts also point out that, despite strong sales, the Tripfold poses profitability challenges for Samsung Electronics. This is because the product has high production and repair costs, yet the launch price was set at 3,590,400 won, which is lower than market expectations.
