This event was organized to recognize the efforts of employees who have consistently volunteered for the local community over a long period and to encourage sustainable volunteer activities. Employees who have accumulated 3,000 hours of volunteer service receive a silver certification plaque and badge in the name of the Head of Steelworks, while those who have reached 5,000 hours are awarded a gold certification plaque and badge in the name of the CEO of POSCO.
Jung Youngsoo, Manager of the Production Technology Department, achieved a cumulative 5,000 hours of volunteer service and became the recipient of the gold certification plaque on this day. Jung Youngsoo has been at the forefront of promoting a culture of sharing in the local community by simultaneously participating in various talent-based volunteer groups, such as the Foot Massage Talent Volunteer Group, the Friends Talent Volunteer Group, and the First Aid Talent Volunteer Group.
In addition, Jung Youngsoo is a member of "Sarangui Moim," the employee volunteer group of the Product Shipment Section, and participates in monthly donation activities to support living expenses for local single mothers and seniors living alone.
Jung Youngsoo has consistently engaged in volunteer work by utilizing personal leisure time and annual leave, dedicating around 600 hours each month, and has donated blood a total of 30 times. Jung Youngsoo shared, "I began volunteering after witnessing the unity of people from all over the country coming together to overcome the Taean Peninsula oil spill disaster. That experience inspired me to contribute, even in a small way, to our society. I would like to thank everyone who has trusted and supported me and joined in these mutually beneficial activities for our community."
As of this day, the number of Gwangyang Steelworks employees who have achieved over 3,000 hours of volunteer service has reached 103.
In his congratulatory remarks, Ko Jaeyoon, Head of Gwangyang Steelworks, said, "I deeply appreciate your dedication to the local community over such a long period. I hope that the experiences gained through volunteer work will be a great source of strength in your lives, and that today's certification ceremony will inspire even more employees to participate in volunteering."
Meanwhile, POSCO operates the Sharing Mileage Certification System to encourage employees' volunteer activities, fostering mutual growth with the local community and providing outstanding volunteers with a sense of achievement and pride. Through this system, employees who have certified volunteer hours, or "sharing mileage," from 200 hours up to 10,000 hours, receive certification plaques for each milestone along with various gifts.
