Hwacheon County will hold the "2026 Ice Country Hwacheon Sancheoneo Festival Seoul Foreign Press Club Briefing" at 6 p.m. on the 22nd at the Press Center in Taepyeong-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul.
The county has been organizing annual briefings for foreign correspondents to promote the Sancheoneo Festival, which attracts more than 100,000 foreign tourists every year.
This year, County Governor Choi Moonsun will personally give a promotional presentation about the festival to foreign journalists and participate in a Q&A session.
During the briefing, a promotional video for the festival will be screened, and various promotional materials, including brochures translated into foreign languages, will be provided.
Furthermore, the county plans to host two press tours for foreign correspondents on January 10 and 17, the opening days of next year’s festival.
Interpretation services and reporting support will be provided to foreign journalists participating in the tours.
Hwacheon County continues to promote the festival on the global stage each year by maintaining exchanges with the Foreign Press Club.
For the 2025 Hwacheon Sancheoneo Festival, more than 600 festival-related reports were delivered by foreign media outlets not only in Asia but also in the Americas, South America, Africa, the Arab world, and Europe.
In addition to outreach to foreign media, Hwacheon County is also conducting festival marketing targeting local travel agencies, including inbound travel agencies in Korea, as well as those in Taiwan, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore in Southeast Asia.
Choi Moonsun, Governor of Hwacheon County, stated, "We are doing our utmost to prepare for our guests so that both domestic and international tourists can enjoy the festival safely and with excitement."
Last year, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism selected the Hwacheon Sancheoneo Festival as the only winter festival in Korea to be recognized as a global festival.
