A Variety of Programs Including
Performance Sharing Exhibitions, Forums, and Citizen Participation Events
The Sokcho Cultural Tourism Foundation (Chairman: Lee Byungseon, Mayor of Sokcho) will conclude the first year of Sokcho City's Culture City of Korea project by hosting the "2025 Culture City Festa," a Culture City performance sharing event, from December 18 to 21 at Centum Mark (formerly Lotte Cinema) in Sokcho Jungang Market.
Held under the theme "A Delicious City, Sokcho as a Gift," this Festa is designed to reflect on Sokcho City's journey in preparing to become a Culture City of Korea together with citizens, to communicate the vision and goals of the Culture City, and to share the achievements and activities of the projects carried out over the past year.
On the first day, December 18, the Festa will feature a session to share major Culture City projects with citizens, introducing various experiments and stories from Culture City Sokcho through the "Dalgeurak Vitality Center" and "Masilsine" activity sharing events.
Also on the same day, the "Sokcho Brand Day Workshop (Expressing the Taste of Sokcho)" will be held, which is open to anyone who registers in advance (on a first-come, first-served basis) through the official social media channels of Culture City Sokcho.
At 3 p.m. on December 19, the "Culture City and Climate Crisis Forum: Climate Crisis and Sokgoyang Food Culture Festival" will be held in conjunction with Kangwon National University RISE project, where Sokcho City, Goseong, and Yangyang County will discuss the sustainability of food culture cities and strategies for responding to the climate crisis.
The forum will begin with a keynote presentation by the director of the Hanbitnara Climate Society Research Institute, followed by case presentations from Sokcho City, Goseong, and Yangyang County.
From 2 p.m. on December 20, the "Taste and Style of Food Culture City Sokcho" event will take place, including the presentation of appreciation plaques, an awards ceremony for the storytelling content contest, and "Sokcho Gourmet Week Connection - Everyone's Table" (in collaboration with the Kangwon National University RISE project), where stories of Sokcho's culinary heritage, reinterpretations of Sokcho cuisine with Chef Yeo Kyungrae, and citizen participation programs will be held.
During the event period, the "Culture City Gallery - The Beginning of Food Culture City" exhibition will be held on the first and second floors of Centum Mark, showcasing Sokcho City's selection process as a Culture City based on food culture, major project details, and achievements.
All events at this Festa are open for anyone to freely visit and enjoy.
There will also be a special event: after visiting the exhibition on the second floor, visitors who take an instant photo and show it at the information desk on the first floor will receive Culture City merchandise as a gift.
Lee Taehun, Secretary General of the Sokcho Cultural Tourism Foundation, stated, "This Festa is like a year-end gift from the Culture City of Korea to its citizens," adding, "We will continue to promote and further expand the vision of Sokcho as a Food Culture City."
Meanwhile, Sokcho City has been designated as a Culture City of Korea by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and is pursuing related projects through 2027 under the vision of "The Style of a City Woven by Taste, Food Culture City Sokcho," aiming to become Korea's leading glocal food culture city.
