Removed LG Air Conditioner Logo Turns Out to Be Pure Gold, Nets 750,000 Won

Customer Brings LG Whisen Logo to Gold Shop
Weighs 1.02g... Receives 750,000 Won After Analysis Fee Deduction

As global economic uncertainty intensifies, demand for gold-a representative safe-haven asset-is soaring. In this context, it has come to light that the logo of the 'Whisen' air conditioner, which LG Electronics sold in limited quantities 20 years ago, was made of pure gold, drawing significant attention. The gold logo, which was attached as part of a promotional event at the time, has been brought back into the spotlight due to the recent surge in gold prices, prompting enthusiastic reactions such as "This is true payback" and "When it comes to home appliances, LG is the best."

Lingling Unnie, a YouTuber who runs a gold shop, recently released a video on her channel titled "Is there gold in air conditioners?" The video features a customer who visited her shop, claiming to have removed the logo from the front of an LG Whisen air conditioner, which immediately caught viewers' attention.

"They Said It Was Gold in the Advertisement"... Analysis Confirms It Is Pure Gold

In the video, the customer presents a piece of gold, explaining, "This is the logo I took off from an LG Whisen air conditioner. The delivery person at the time also said it was gold, and it was advertised that way as well." He recalled, "Back then, they said if you brought this in, you'd get about 10,000 won."

In fact, when the gold piece brought by the customer was melted down and analyzed, it turned out to be pure gold. The YouTuber told the customer, "It's not 18K, it's pure gold," and added, "The weight is just under one don, so I will give you 713,000 won."

Another Customer Also Confirms 'Pure Gold'... Receives 750,000 Won After Analysis Fee

As the video surpassed 1 million views and went viral, another customer visited the YouTuber on December 15, saying, "I came after watching the video." The Whisen logo he brought was more intact than the previous customer's.

This customer shared, "I once took this logo to a local gold shop, but they said, 'Without a certificate, it doesn't seem to be gold.' I almost threw it away, but then I saw the video." He explained that the best way to remove the logo cleanly is to scrape it off with fishing line.

Upon analysis, this logo was also confirmed to be pure gold. The YouTuber explained, "It weighed 1.02 grams, but some gold is lost in the melting process," and added, "After deducting the analysis fee, you can receive 748,000 won."

"LG Appliances Are the Best"... Netizens Respond Enthusiastically

Netizens reacted with comments such as, "This is true payback," "Now I see why people say LG appliances are the best," "LG's PR team should get to work," "I forgot that LG's predecessor was Goldstar-gold really is the best," "LG's good deeds always exceed expectations," "Scrap metal dealers nationwide are on alert," "If only I had bought gold back then," and "Why do things like this never happen to me?"

Previously, in 2005, LG Electronics sold air conditioners with pure gold Whisen logos to the first 10,000 customers to commemorate being the world's top-selling air conditioner brand for five consecutive years. In 2008, the company also released a limited edition of 10,000 Whisen air conditioners, each featuring a pure gold one-don nameplate.
