Gokseong County Selects Top Six Outstanding Policies of the Year Chosen by Residents

Pediatric Clinic in Gokseong, Public Seasonal Worker Program, and Smart Farm Rental Initiative

Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province announced on December 16 that it had selected the top six outstanding policy initiatives that shined in county administration throughout 2025.

The county evaluated 32 projects promoted by various departments. In the first round, internal and external experts selected the top 10 outstanding policies. In the second round, a public preference survey was conducted, and the final top six policies of the year were confirmed.

In particular, this year’s selection process included both an online survey via the county’s website and on-site resident voting at 11 town and township offices, allowing for a wide collection of diverse opinions and expanding public consensus and trust in the policy process.

This year, the county focused on policies that could be directly felt by residents, achieving various results in areas such as improving quality of life, responding to regional depopulation, and strengthening agricultural competitiveness.

The most outstanding policy was the establishment of a pediatric clinic in Gokseong for the first time in 65 years, providing daily pediatric care. Since the pediatric clinic began operating within the public health center on May 2, a total of 2,566 consultations had been provided as of the end of November 2025, with an average of 31 patients receiving stable medical services each day. Notably, the clinic achieved a 100% satisfaction rate among users, receiving an enthusiastic response from local residents. This has further strengthened the local public healthcare system and represents a meaningful accomplishment in addressing the crisis of regional depopulation.

The other selected outstanding policies include: ▲ Expansion of the public foreign seasonal worker program to address labor shortages during the busy farming season (60 seasonal workers from Laos were deployed for farm work); ▲ Operation of a smart farm rental program for young farmers to support their stable settlement (six young farmers signed rental contracts at a monthly rent of 10,000 KRW); ▲ Successful establishment of a joint shipping system, enabling early blueberry cultivation and long-term shipping; ▲ Creation of rural study villages (Osan, Seokgok, and Samgi regions) as part of a project to save small schools at risk of closure; ▲ Establishment of regional health promotion centers to bridge gaps in health services among different areas.

Gokseong County plans to provide incentives to the departments and teams that discovered these outstanding policies to boost the morale of public officials and to continue promoting creative and proactive administration.

Gokseong County Mayor Jo Sangrae stated, "Policies that received strong support from residents will be actively reflected in next year’s county administration," adding, "We will continue to implement policies that residents can truly feel."
