The new IT Building will serve as an educational and research space jointly used by the School of Information and Computer Engineering under the College of Information and Biotechnology, and the Department of Electrical Engineering under the College of Engineering. The building will house lecture rooms, faculty offices, PBL rooms, as well as undergraduate and graduate laboratories and research rooms.

The IT Building reconstruction project was completed with a total investment of 26.7 billion won, involving the demolition of the former No. 1 Annex and the construction of a new facility on the same site. The building consists of one basement floor and ten above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 13,161.08 square meters, making it the largest among the national university facility improvement BTL projects announced in 2021.

The building also features eco-friendly and energy-saving designs. All lighting in the building is 100% LED, and renewable energy sources such as solar and geothermal energy have been applied to reduce energy consumption. Notably, for the first time on campus, a Building Energy Management System (BEMS) has been introduced to manage and analyze data through remote metering of each energy source, making it an eco-friendly educational and research facility with enhanced energy efficiency.

President Choi Jaewon stated, "At this critical juncture as we strive to become a research-oriented university with global competitiveness, the new IT Building will serve as a core infrastructure leading AI innovation in the region and the nation. It will also play a strategic role as a hub for strengthening Pusan National University's future growth engine."

Baek Yoonju, Dean of the College of Information and Biotechnology, emphasized, "The IT Building is a symbolic space where the core academic fields of the AI era-AI (brain), computer (platform), and electricity (drive)-are brought together. It will serve as the central space leading PNU-AX (AI Transformation) and become the engine that opens the next 100 years for Pusan National University."

Jeong Jucheol, Dean of the College of Engineering, also remarked, "The IT Building is a key hub for education and research, nurturing talent and creating new technologies for the AI era. We hope it will become the starting point for Pusan National University's future by fostering convergence education and research in the fields of electrical and computer engineering."

The completion ceremony was attended by President Choi Jaewon, National Assemblyman Baek Jonghun, Yoon Ilhyeon, Mayor of Geumjeong-gu, as well as key university administrators, professors, staff, and students, all celebrating the completion of the IT Building together.
