According to a report by The Gangwon Ilbo on December 15, Hwang Euijin, a third-year student at Hongcheon Girls' High School, was accepted not only to Seoul National University but also to the pre-medical programs at Yonsei University and Korea University through early admissions, achieving the distinction of being accepted to all three major medical schools. This marks the first time in 69 years since the school's founding that a student from Hongcheon Girls' High School has been admitted to the pre-medical program at Seoul National University.

Hwang, a native of Hongcheon, attended Namsan Elementary School and Hongcheon Girls' Middle School before enrolling at Hongcheon Girls' High School. Although she consistently ranked first in her class throughout middle school, she chose to attend a regular local high school rather than a specialized or autonomous private high school, opting for stability. She successfully gained admission to medical school through the rural student admissions track.

She was inspired to become a doctor after watching the drama "Hospital Playlist" in her third year of middle school, which sparked her interest in the medical profession and set her goal to pursue a career in medicine.

Regarding her secret to maintaining top grades, Hwang emphasized her dedication to classroom instruction. She said, "Since the teachers ultimately write the exam questions, I tried not to miss even a single joke during class," adding, "I made sure to get enough sleep and approached classes as an opportunity to review material I had already studied one or two semesters ahead."

She also actively participated in reading and discussion activities organized by the school. Through these activities, she not only read books in the field of life sciences but also thought about and recorded areas she would like to research in the future. During her early admissions interview, she expressed her ambition by saying, "Due to Hongcheon being a super-aged region, I have thought a lot about being a doctor in an aging society, and I want to become a doctor with empathy who goes beyond simply treating diseases."

Her family also played a significant role in helping her focus on her studies. Hwang's parents, who run a private academy, arranged their home like a library to create an environment where their daughter could naturally become accustomed to reading.

Hwang shared her thoughts, saying, "I remembered the phrase, 'Meticulous preparation allows excitement to overcome fear,' and I focused solely on what I could do, forgetting about the limitations of my region. I want to share that even in a small provincial city in the digital age, dreams can be achieved."
