Nurturing AI Talent and Industry-Academia Collaboration
Contributing to the Establishment of Education and Research Systems
The Dong-Eui University Artificial Intelligence Grand ICT Research Center has been nurturing digital talent ready to be deployed directly into industrial sites.
The Dong-Eui University Artificial Intelligence Grand ICT Research Center, led by Director Jung Seokchan, was awarded the "2025 Commendation from the Mayor of Busan for Contributions to Digital Talent Development" on December 12, in recognition of its contributions to fostering digital talent, promoting software, and developing the information and communications industry in the Busan region.

This commendation was presented to organizations that have established practical, work-based talent development systems in response to changes in the digital industrial environment and contributed to the advancement of related industries. The Artificial Intelligence Grand ICT Research Center was highly recognized for its efforts in nurturing talent in the AI field and fostering regional digital talent through education and research based on industry-academia collaboration.
In particular, Director Jung Seokchan, who leads the research center, also serves as the head of the Busan AI Innovation Center under the Dong-Eui University RISE Project Group. He has been promoting the adoption of artificial intelligence technologies and digital transformation among local manufacturing companies.
Additionally, as a member of the regional task force of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Committee (chaired by President Lee Jaemyung), he provides policy advice to support balanced national development and strengthen competitiveness through the application and dissemination of artificial intelligence.
Director Jung Seokchan stated, "This award is an official recognition of the achievements in nurturing AI talent jointly created by the university and the local industry," and added, "We will continue to contribute to strengthening Busan's digital competitiveness through AI education and dissemination based on field demand."
The Artificial Intelligence Grand ICT Research Center is being operated with support from the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP) as part of the "Regional Intelligence Innovation Talent Development Project."
