Jindo County in South Jeolla Province is cultivating professional talent to lead eco-friendly agriculture, aiming to strengthen the competitiveness of local agriculture.
The Jindo County Agricultural Technology Center announced that it held the graduation ceremony for the 18th Eco-Friendly Agriculture University on December 12, producing 41 professional farmers specializing in organic agriculture and the chrysanthemum industry.
More than 50 people attended the graduation ceremony, including Jindo County Mayor Kim Heesu, who serves as the university president, Vice Chairman Lee Moonkyo of the Jindo County Council, other council members, and graduates, to celebrate the achievements of the graduating students.
The university operated two programs: an organic agriculture course and a chrysanthemum industry research course. From March to October, students enhanced their expertise through systematic, practice-oriented education, including theoretical classes, field training, and exhibitions.
At the ceremony, graduate Jang Jaeun (from Jindo-eup), who excelled in academic performance and attendance, received a commendation from the Administrator of the Rural Development Administration. Graduate Park Junseok (from Imhoe-myeon) received a commendation from the Jindo County Mayor for the organic agriculture course, and graduate Lee Misuk (from Gunnae-myeon) received a commendation from the Jindo County Mayor for the chrysanthemum industry research course.
Additionally, students from the chrysanthemum industry research course practiced community sharing by donating 2 million won, the proceeds from exhibiting and selling chrysanthemum works they completed over the year, to the Jindo County Talent Development Scholarship Foundation.
Jindo County Mayor Kim Heesu stated, "I sincerely congratulate all the graduates who continued their studies and achieved results despite challenging agricultural conditions," and added, "The knowledge and experience gained at the Eco-Friendly Agriculture University will serve as a solid foundation for the future of Jindo agriculture, and the county will continue to provide unwavering support."
Since its establishment in 2008, the university has produced 1,167 professional farmers, establishing itself as a key institution for nurturing core talent and leading the region's eco-friendly agriculture.
