The Marine Corps conducted its fourth-quarter maritime live-fire drill on the northwestern islands on December 16, deploying K-9 self-propelled howitzers and other equipment.
The Northwest Islands Defense Command announced that the Marine Corps’ 6th Brigade and the Yeonpyeong Unit carried out live-fire training with unit-assigned weapons at the Yeonpyeong Unit maritime firing range without any issues. This marks the fourth time this year that the Marine Corps has conducted maritime live-fire drills on the northwestern islands.
The Northwest Islands Defense Command stated, "This drill was conducted taking into account various factors, including weather conditions," and explained, "It is a routine, regularly scheduled, and defensive exercise conducted south of the Northern Limit Line (NLL)."
