The Election Commission of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Government Employees’ Labor Union announced on December 16 that Kim Kyuhong was elected as the chairman and Kim Semin as the general secretary for the 12th term of the union.
Kim Kyuhong and Kim Semin, who ran unopposed in the election for the 12th term chairman of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Government Employees’ Labor Union held on December 15, were ultimately elected after receiving 1,006 votes in favor, which is 92.5% of the ballots cast, out of 1,088 votes from 1,863 eligible voters (a turnout of 58.4%).

In his acceptance speech, chairman-elect Kim Kyuhong stated, “I will always communicate with union members with humility so that we can become a ‘reliable union, an awakened union, and an active union.’ I will do my utmost to protect the rights and interests of our members and to create a safe and fair working environment within a rational labor-management relationship.”
Both Kim Kyuhong and Kim Semin previously served as general secretary and deputy general secretary, respectively, in the 11th term of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Government Employees’ Labor Union, and will now lead the union for the next two years as the 12th executive team.
