The Belgian Meat Office (BMO) will participate in Asia's largest food and beverage exhibition, 'FHA 2026 (Food & Hospitality Asia),' to be held in Singapore from April 21 to 24, 2026. At this event, BMO aims to once again highlight the overwhelming competitiveness of Belgian pork in the global market. During the exhibition, BMO and major local suppliers will operate booth 9G2-07, welcoming food industry professionals from around the world.
Belgium is a small yet powerful pork powerhouse. As of 2024, it exported 690,628 tons of pork annually, ranking as the world's seventh-largest pork exporter. Currently, Belgium supplies meat to more than 70 countries worldwide, including South Korea, and continues to steadily increase its global market share based on excellent quality and high reliability.
The key to these achievements lies in 'efficiency.' Luc Verspreet, former president of the Belgian Meat Association (FEBEV), stated, "Belgium is the most cost-efficient country in Europe per kilogram," emphasizing, "Thanks to our efficient production system, we have secured long-term industrial sustainability, and even if there are changes in industry scale in the future, we will continue to play a key role as a major producer and exporter."
Joris Coenen, manager at the Belgian Meat Office, cited 'work methods and attitude' as the differentiating factors of Belgian pork suppliers. He explained, "Belgian suppliers offer customized services and direct, personal communication to customers worldwide. They deeply understand each client's needs and prioritize long-term partnerships based on trust, providing flexible and efficient solutions optimized for each customer's business."
Gerard Van Landschoot, current president of the Belgian Meat Association, also remarked, "Our greatest strength is always flexibility," adding, "Constantly redefining ourselves, anticipating change, and staying one step ahead have defined the past, present, and future of the Belgian meat industry."
Belgium's family-run meat companies have grown based on longstanding craftsmanship and sustainability, while continuously innovating to respond to consumer demands, regulatory changes, and global competition. Traditional skills and know-how are combined with cutting-edge production and management technologies, evolving into future-oriented and sustainable business models-this is the unique competitive edge of Belgian pork.
These efforts have resulted in products renowned for rich flavor, high safety, and authenticity. Belgian pork products feature a perfect traceability system and certified quality assurance, while the transparent and stringent quality standards of European pork have earned widespread trust from experts worldwide.
The Belgian Meat Office (BMO), which serves as the official gateway for global companies seeking to collaborate with Belgian pork suppliers, was established in 2003 under the Flanders Agricultural Marketing Board (VLAM). It has been responsible for promoting Belgian pork abroad and boosting exports, actively supporting global market entry through export assistance and various B2B promotional activities.
Recognized as a leading pork specialist nation in Europe, Belgium is considered a pioneer for its thorough food safety management system spanning from feed production to distribution and sales. At FHA 2026, the Belgian Meat Office and its suppliers plan to leverage these strengths to expand cooperation with global partners, including those in the Asian market.
