The real risks lie on-site, not in the meeting room.

On December 15, Korea National Oil Corporation (Acting President Choi Moonkyu) conducted a Process Safety Management (PSM) capacity-building consulting session for a mid-sized local company.

The PSM system is a program administered by the Ministry of Employment and Labor that requires workplaces with hazardous or dangerous facilities to prepare and implement a process safety report, thereby systematically managing workplace safety levels.

This consulting session was one of the follow-up measures to the "Ulsan Disaster Safety Cooperation MOU" signed last November between Korea National Oil Corporation, Ulsan Metropolitan City, and the Korea Explosion Protection Association. It was carried out to prevent major industrial accidents in the local community and to help strengthen the autonomous safety management capabilities of companies in the region.

Korea National Oil Corporation previously visited the Ulsan plant of Korea Petrochemical Industry, a hazardous materials handling business located in Ulsan, on December 10 to conduct a preliminary consultation. On this day, the corporation visited again to provide Korea Petrochemical Industry officials with detailed practical experience and on-site know-how related to workplace safety management.

Out of its nine domestic sites, Korea National Oil Corporation has received the highest PSM grade (Grade P) at eight. Based on this achievement, the corporation focused not only on theoretical education but also on providing practical solutions that can be immediately applied in the field, such as risk analysis for the entire PSM process, management system improvement measures, and the advancement of safety culture.

Lee Hoseung, Head of the Safety Team at Korea Petrochemical Industry's Ulsan plant, who participated in the consulting session, said, "Experts from the three organizations closely examined the on-site conditions and provided concrete and realistic improvement measures based on their practical experience, which was very helpful. We will faithfully implement the improvements suggested during the consultation process and do our best to establish a safe workplace."

Choi Moonkyu, Acting President of Korea National Oil Corporation, stated, "The significance of this consulting session lies in presenting practical safety solutions that can be immediately applied at the workplace, beyond just the transfer of theoretical knowledge. We will continue to actively share our safety management technology and know-how with local companies to create a safer industrial environment in Ulsan and prevent major industrial accidents."
