Report Transnational Crimes and Foreign-Origin Disinformation to "111"

The National Intelligence Service announced on December 16 that it is operating the "111 Reporting Center" for transnational crimes and foreign-origin disinformation that threaten national security and public safety.

Transnational crimes are offenses that involve two or more countries or have victims across multiple nations. Examples include voice phishing targeting Korean citizens, romance scams, overseas job scams, no-show scams, and international drug-related crimes. Foreign-origin disinformation refers to false videos or writings disseminated by foreign entities or groups linked to foreign countries, with the intent to undermine South Korea's security and national interests.

An official from the National Intelligence Service stated, "Recently, transnational crimes and foreign-origin disinformation have emerged as serious threats that undermine national security and interests, and cause social disorder." The official urged the public to report or provide information immediately upon discovery.
