This event was organized as part of efforts to enhance communication aimed at improving the stability of bus operations, which are responsible for citizens' mobility, and to meaningfully improve the working conditions of bus drivers.
On site, Mayor Joo and the bus driver workers discussed a variety of pressing issues, including working conditions, operational circumstances, safety concerns, and the perceived level of welfare. Afterwards, Mayor Joo had a meal with the drivers in the cafeteria, listening to their concerns in a more relaxed setting.
The city is focusing on the public management system for buses as a key policy to ensure punctuality and safety in public transportation, while also improving the working environment for transportation workers to enhance service quality.
Currently, under a phased transition plan, the city is operating a total of 21 routes with 149 buses under the public management system. In 2026, it plans to transition an additional 15 routes with 75 buses. Through this gradual expansion, the city aims to complete the transition of all routes to the public management system by 2027.

Based on this budget, the city is steadily working to ensure stable route operations, punctuality, and improved treatment for transportation workers, thereby increasing public satisfaction.
Mayor Joo Kwangdeok stated, "We will actively coordinate with Gyeonggi Province and the city council to ensure the smooth completion of the transition to the public management system for buses by 2027. We will continue to develop policies to improve the welfare of bus drivers, and make every effort to manage roads, including winter snow removal, so that citizens can use bus services with peace of mind."
