The donated artifacts include: 11 items such as the white porcelain burial box and burial tablet of Nam Juneung and Nam Howon, as well as appointment certificates (gyoji) previously owned by Nam Bohyeon; one Joseon Dynasty certificate (wanmun) owned by Lee Dongcheol; and 14 Gapyeong train tickets, including those for the Bidulgi-ho and Tongil-ho trains, owned by Lim Seongjin, totaling 26 items. These artifacts serve as important materials that illustrate the history and daily life of the Gapyeong region from the Joseon Dynasty through the modern era.
At the donation ceremony, Governor Seo Taewon stated, "The artifacts passed down in each household contain the region's history and identity in their entirety," adding, "This donation will serve as a significant foundation for preserving Gapyeong's cultural heritage and passing it on to future generations."
The donated artifacts will become key holdings of the Gapyeong History Archives, which is scheduled to open in 2026, and will be used to convey the historical value and cultural depth of Gapyeong to residents and visitors alike.
Gapyeong County plans to continue systematically collecting, preserving, and managing local artifacts, and to gradually expand cultural heritage utilization projects centered on the history archives. Eligible donations include artifacts owned by residents, related organizations, or individuals in Gapyeong County, as well as a wide range of materials related to the county from the Japanese colonial period to the present day.
