On December 17, Barun Law LLC announced that it has recruited Seungjin Hong, a foreign attorney specializing in legislative and regulatory affairs, and Hyein Jin, a financial specialist and attorney (5th Bar Examination).

Attorney Hong is an expert in legislative consulting and regulatory response for corporations. After passing the Higher Civil Service Examination in 1991, he was responsible for reviewing and planning legislation, administrative appeals, legislative support for members of the National Assembly, international cooperation with overseas legislative institutions, legal information systems, and media response at the Ministry of Government Legislation and the Administrative Appeals Commission under the Prime Minister’s Office, covering key ministries such as the Ministry of Economy and Finance. He also provided legislative consulting and advisory services for 14 years at Lee & Ko, serving major domestic and international corporations, associations, organizations, government agencies, and public enterprises.

After overseeing administrative legislation and legislative planning for central government ministries for many years, Attorney Hong moved to Lee & Ko, where he accumulated expertise and experience in the legislative consulting team before joining Barun Law LLC. He now provides comprehensive advisory services specializing in pre-litigation relief for corporate clients, helping them save time and costs in areas such as corporate regulatory response, legislative consulting, foreign investment, compliance, and legislative advisory for the National Assembly and local governments.

Attorney Jin is a real estate, foreign direct investment (FDI), and project finance specialist who joined Barun Law LLC this year after working at Bae, Kim & Lee LLC and Yulchon LLC, as well as in the alternative investment team at Daol Asset Management and at Dentons Lee.

She has extensive experience in inbound and outbound cross-border transactions, including overseas expansion of Korean companies and investments in Korea by global investors. She has handled the entire cycle of large-scale real estate development, tourism, leisure complexes, and mixed-use cultural and arena development projects, including investment structure design, project financing, regulatory and licensing advisory, contract negotiation, and dispute resolution. From 2021 to 2022, she was directly responsible for fund raising and management in the alternative investment team at an asset management company, where she handled internal compliance issues firsthand, earning a reputation as an attorney with a precise understanding of practical processes and business needs.

Attorney Jin has extensive advisory experience in areas such as: reviewing business agreements and advising on the establishment of SPCs and foreign investment structures for large-scale mixed-use development projects in free economic zones, industrial complexes, and special self-governing provinces; advising global spa, wellness, performance, and entertainment companies on entering the Korean market and on mixed-use cultural and arena development projects; structuring long-term supply contracts and analyzing external sanctions (OFAC) and export control risks in petrochemical, fertilizer, gas, and ammonia projects in Russia and other regions; reviewing fund structures for overseas real estate and tangible assets, fund of funds, domestic and international PE/VC funds, investments and exits in startups, healthcare, and tech companies, as well as liquidation structures for startups, PFV, and REITs, and providing related regulatory advisory.
