Chunwon Park, CEO of JB Woori Capital, has been confirmed as the final candidate for the next president of Jeonbuk Bank.
According to the financial sector on December 16, the Executive Candidate Recommendation Committee of Jeonbuk Bank recommended Park as the final candidate for bank president the previous day. Park became the sole candidate after Jongil Paek, the current president of Jeonbuk Bank, who had expressed his intention to serve another term until last month, suddenly announced his resignation.
The Executive Candidate Recommendation Committee of Jeonbuk Bank plans to conduct a review of Park, who was solely recommended by the CEO Candidate Recommendation Committee of JB Financial Group subsidiaries, and officially confirm him as the 14th president of Jeonbuk Bank through a shareholders' meeting on December 16.

Since taking office as CEO of JB Woori Capital in 2021, Park has achieved record-breaking results every year, including reaching a net profit of 200 billion won for the first time since the company's establishment. JB Woori Capital, a core subsidiary of JB Financial Group, has made significant contributions to JB Financial's all-time high performance. JB Financial Group recorded a cumulative net profit of 578.7 billion won in the third quarter of this year.
Park graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Resource Engineering and completed an MBA at the University of Chicago. He began his career as a certified public accountant at Samil PwC in 1990, and went on to serve at Bain & Company Korea, Aju Industry, and as CEO of Aju Capital and Aju Savings Bank, before becoming CEO of JB Woori Capital in 2021. He has since been reappointed twice. Meanwhile, he was previously investigated by a special prosecutor over allegations related to the so-called Kim Keonhee housekeeper gate. JB Woori Capital faced suspicions of making a favor-seeking investment in IMS Mobility, a company reportedly established with the involvement of Kim Yesung, who served as the housekeeper for Kim Keonhee.
